ABOUT THE POSITION:

Mid-August to Mid-November 2025 – job posted until position is filled

Position: This is a temporary (90 day) full-time exempt leadership position. 

Reports To: School Manager

Work Location: Alder Montessori.  This two-classroom early childhood education school is located at 17200 SW Alder Street, Portland Oregon. The work site is inside Alder Elementary, a public elementary school within the Reynolds School District. 

Work Schedule: Monday-Friday; 7:50am-4:00 pm on Mondays; and 6:50am-3pm Tuesday-Friday, additional hours from time to time during the school week. 

Focus Areas: 60-70% of time with children for arrivals, departures, covering breaks, and general classroom and student support. 30-40% of the time performing administrative duties and communicating and supporting parents.


Summary:
The Interim Coordinator will have strong administrative and parent engagement skills.  They will be compassionate, thoughtful, patient, and highly organized and understand that this position will require flexibility and extensive interpersonal interactions with small children, parents and school staff during the work day. The coordinator will receive guidance and support from the School Manager and collaborate modeling grace, courtesy and compassion with all students, families, peers, supervisors, and partner stakeholders. 
They will use their Spanish and English communication skills daily to support our students, families, and mission.

This position requires a self-starter with solid professional judgment, de-escalation skills and calm in a crisis and will be the back-up Site Administrator.  They will be skilled at prioritizing and planning work functions, and a positive and strong communicator to act as a HUB within our programs.   Must be fluent written & oral in Spanish and English.

This position meet state qualification requirements as a teacher in a Certified Child Care Center and work experience as an early childhood teacher. The position also requires Oregon Fingerprint and Criminal Check clearance via the Oregon Central Background Registry, Pediatric First Aid and CPR Certificate, and verification of other required Health & Safety Trainings prior to being on-site with students.


Day to Day Work Focus:
·       Classroom support includes support on the bus, covering ratios, while in class acting in role as classroom assistant. Variety of administrative program specific tasks.  New parent outreach and communication tasks, demographic data, attendance data & coordination with student/family enrollment and records if co-located with elementary school.

·       Administrative support for schools for parent communication and engagement/events.

·       Provides active support to the Manager and classroom staff to identify ORO training, registering, and scheduling coverage during school hours, and ensuring training completion in systems.

·       Flexible and quick learner to take on other tasks as required. Examples, helping a family with student enrollment, including gathering vaccination records.



Skills, Knowledge and/or Abilities Required:
·       Bilingual – Spanish and English, verbal and written. 

·       2+ years relevant professional experience -administration and office management duties. Keyboarding, computers, software, system portals, and administrative systems skills.

·       Calm and kind personality, knows how to create positive working relationships to get along well with others, self-reflective, and likes working in a kid and parent centered environment.

·       Highly organized and efficient.  Able to focus and complete administrative tasks within an often noisy and disruptive shared space environment. 

·       Personal dedication to DEI values and will engage and sustain at high level to integrate these values into day-to-day work and classroom/family engagement.

·       Dependable, and can be flexible with work schedule/job duties to support the school.

·       Creative problem solver, with solid professional judgement who displays warmth & trustworthiness.

·       Significant physical abilities include mobility in the classroom, lifting/carrying, reaching/handling, talking/hearing conversations, near/far visual acuity/depth perception/accommodation/field of vision. Ability to be tolerant of children’s frequent noises of various pitches and tones as well as odors of extreme variants.

·       Self-starter with strong leadership skills, solid professional judgement and de-escalation skills who is calm and consistently models kindness and grace with others.

·       This position requires Oregon Fingerprint and Criminal Check clearance, First Aid and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Certificate attained promptly prior to working at the site. 


Preference for Candidates who have strong working knowledge of Montessori Pedagogy.  


Compensation and Benefits:
This is a full-time temporary salaried exempt professional position. The hiring range for this position is $4,167 to $5742 month, Depending on education/experience.
