Spring Newsletter

Since you were last here… a lot has changed!

We hope you, your family and friends are staying healthy and safe. So many things have changed since our winter newsletter that it’s hard to believe it was just a few months ago.
OMA has been working incredibly hard to support schools, teachers, and families and we hope that what you will find in this newsletter will give you a bit of energy and ideas to move forward. We are here for you and because of you. If there is an idea or anything you think we can help you with, reach out! We would love to hear your thoughts.

Children are home and their teachers are keeping them in their minds

We have created a special edition newsletter to share with you. We sincerely hope it’s the last one we need to create, so we made sure it’s a good one! Please meet “The Covid-19 Post” featuring some amazing Montessorians!

COVID-19 Provider List (a.k.a. Montessori Hero)

We know that some families require child care at this time and that schools and school staff have received numerous calls to help look after the children of first responders, medical personnel and other essential workers. There are many ways to help, but we wanted to add a simple one, just for our little community:
The COVID-19 Montessori provider list, available only to Montessori schools and their families

Letter to the Governor

A huge part of our work is done through advocacy. During this crisis, we have been busier than ever advocating for children, Montessori schools and their staff. If you want to read a letter we sent to Governor Brown as part of our role in Oregon’s Early Childhood Coalition, you can click HERE

Educators: Join our online groups

We know that these times have called for even more creativity from Montessori guides as they design their extended prepared environments. If you would like to offer or receive ideas or simply connect with other guides teaching in your level, please join our Special Edition Online Groups (Infants & Toddlers, Primary, Elementary & Adolescents). These groups are open to ALL Montessori Guides

Don’t forget – THE CENSUS

It may not be in the news as much, but’s it’s happening and it’s certainly important. Numbers collected during the Census inform budgets, grants, and projects. Please make sure you and all the children in your life are counted!
