Upper Elementary Classroom Assistant – Childpeace Montessori

Childpeace Montessori School is seeking an Upper Elementary Classroom Assistant to begin August 2020.

The Classroom Assistant will work in a classroom of 9- to 12- year-olds, assisting the Head Teacher through support of individual students, administrative tasks, maintenance of the classroom environment, playground supervision and general tasks related to the well-being of the classroom community. For the 20-21 school year, the Upper Elementary Classroom Assistant will be a key support in the delivery of distance learning during times of quarantine closure during the pandemic. The ideal candidate for this position will bring strong computer skills and a willingness to become fluent using instructional tools technology.

Work hours are generally Monday to Friday 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. The wage range for this position depends on experience and begins at $16.00 per hour.

Our ideal candidate has a Bachelor’s degree, possesses strong communication and organizational skills, has prior experience working with elementary age children, embraces professional teamwork and collaboration, and brings a positive and kind spirit to the important work of building relationships with students and colleagues. Art/music abilities, physical education/movement skills or facility with Spanish language would be a plus.

This position is hourly, non-exempt, and benefit-eligible (medical, dental, and vision insurance, and more).

Requirements upon hire:
Background clearance through Department of Human ServicesWithin 30 days must obtain:
Pediatric CPR/First Aid Certificate
Food Handler Certification
Recognizing and Reporting Child Abuse and Neglect (RRCAN)
Introduction to Child Care Health and Safety (ICCHS)
Prevention is Better Than Treatment (PBTT)
