The Montessori House of St Johns is Hiring!

The Montessori House of St Johns is a strong, supportive, and vibrant community that serves families with children, 1 through 6 years of age. We have created nurturing communities for the holistic development of toddlers and preschoolers. We are a year round program with a strong commitment to authentic Montessori environments, introducing the children to Spanish language, environmental stewardship, social justice, and providing many opportunities to explore artistic expression.

We are currently interviewing for a primary trained individual to cover a year long maternity leave. This is a unique opportunity to lead an established 3-6 classroom with the support of a veteran assistant and mentorship from the Director, as well as the Guide taking the maternity leave. If The Montessori House proves to be a good fit for the Guide, there will be opportunity for the candidate to continue as a Primary Lead Guide the following year. This position would begin with training, observations, and meeting our community in June. The first day leading the classroom will be July 8th, 2019. In addition to the description below, all applicants should have experience working with young children (and love it!) and have or be able to obtain: fingerprint clearance, CPR/First Aid, training in Child Abuse/Neglect, and an Oregon Food Handler’s permit.

Guides are responsible for the care and safety of the children, preparing an authentic Montessori environment, planning, implementing, and recording Montessori curriculum aligned with their Montessori training albums. They are also responsible for communicating and collaborating with parents and other staff members, monthly newsletter submission, supporting and supervising assistants, and helping with school events.

The Montessori House is a great group of creative, collaborative, and intentional professionals. We are seeking an open minded candidate who is excited to be a part of our dynamic St Johns neighborhood. We are deeply committed to being active members of the neighborhood we serve. We offer competitive wages and benefits.

If you are interested in applying, please email with a letter of interest, at least three employer or professor references, and a resume.
