Sunstone Montessori School, a long-established AMI school serving 150+ children ages 16 months through 12 years old in the John’s Landing neighborhood of SW Portland, is seeking Elementary assistants for the 2020-21 school year.

The classroom assistant is an integral member of the Elementary team. Strong communication skills, initiative, keen attention to details, and flexibility are a must. Previous Montessori experience will be given special consideration. The classroom assistant provides essential daily support in a variety of ways, including but not limited to: cleaning and preparing the environment, making materials, supervising children on the playground and around campus, observing, and being proactive to support the Guide’s vision for the community. Ideal candidates will have an AMI Elementary diploma; as we prepare for the possibility of distance learning continuing in the 2020-21 school year, we are looking for assistants who can support and contribute to the Guide’s distance learning plan, and who have comfort and experience engaging via digital platforms (Google Classroom, Zoom, YouTube).

All Elementary assistant positions are full-time and include occasional required evening/weekend hours and attendance at Whole Staff meetings; additionally, the Upper Elementary Assistant participates in two 3-4 day overnight trips with the class each year.
