Harmony Montessori is seeking a Children’s House Distance Learning Guide who is dedicated to offering Montessori Education to all children regardless of their cultural, developmental or socioeconomic background. This position is for the remainder of the 2020-2021 School year.
The ideal candidate would have experience working with a diverse community of children and families and be willing to work as an active team member with our Elementary Distance Learning teacher and our Administrative staff. This position would be for 8-11 children some of whom would be through our Preschool Promise program.
Distance Learning Teachers will work with enrolled families to deliver comprehensive services in the child’s home.
Primary Distance Learning
Teacher must work in partnerships with families to develop and discuss:
*Learning goals for child(ren)
*Create a weekly learning plan (activity guide)
*Create play-based learning activities for families and children to do at home.
*Record the child’s development and experiences
*Write reflections on the child’s behaviors and experiences. This can be done through observation in either safe distancing in-person interactions or virtually.
*Family support goals, including connecting the families with resources and materials to support their child’s learning and development.
*Communicate the plan with families, including a schedule of virtual, phone, or in-person conversations for the week.
* Create and maintain Family communication plans and logs – Family communication plans must include daily contact attempts with families being served through Comprehensive Home-Base Leaning
Delivery and support of developmentally appropriate play-based learning activities
*Conduct developmental assessments
*Track and report attendance
Relationships and connections are prioritized in the planning. DL Teacher must work to engage with families daily. Virtual interactions with children are allowed but should not be the norm or primary mechanism for educational activities.
Lead Guide must meet the following qualifications:
*Current registration with the Oregon Central Background registry
*3-6 Montessori Teaching diploma. Can be either AMS or AMI
*At a minimum, must hold a Child Development Associates Credential or Step 8 on Oregon Registry Online.
*Current CPR/1st Aid certification
*Recognizing and Reporting Child Abuse and neglect Training
*Oregon Childcare Safety Training
*Oregon Prevention is Better than Treatment Training
