Harmony Montessori is seeking to hire a Children’s House (preschool) classroom assistant.

Applicants must:
Have current registration in the Oregon Background Registry
Hold current certification in Child/Infant CPR & First Aid
Hold a current Oregon Food Handler’s Card
Have completed the Recognizing and Reporting Child Abuse and Neglect Training
Have completed the Oregon Health and Safety training for childcare workers.
Have completed the Oregon “Prevention is better than treatment” training

The ideal applicant must be dedicated to offering Montessori Education to all children regardless of their cultural, developmental, or socioeconomic background. The ideal candidate would have experience working with a diverse community of children and families, be willing to work as an active team member, and be committed to creating a long term relationship with our Harmony community. Harmony Montessori is a warm community in SE Portland that consists of four Children’s House classrooms and one Elementary Class.

We are seeking a classroom assistant for one of our Children’s House Classrooms who would be available to start as soon as possible. Montessori experience is preferred but not required.

Hours: Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM-4:30 PM

The position would include classroom assistance in an established classroom under the direction of a Head
Teacher, playground and lunch supervision, cleaning, sanitation, classroom preparation, and some dishwashing.

The ideal candidate for this position would be willing to learn and take direction while also being comfortable with taking the initiative when the situation warrants. This would be the perfect position for a newly graduated Montessori teacher who is looking to gain experience in a classroom.

Wage Range: $16.00-$22.00/hour depending upon education, experience and Oregon Registry Step Rating.
