Portland Montessori Collaborative seeks a creative, flexible and grounded talent in our teaching community. We are hiring for Assistant in our Montessori Toddler Community. This is an opportunity to work with a Master Teacher, and recipient of the Susan Huston Award for excellence in teaching. Position to start as soon as possible.

Montessori experience is highly preferred; newly trained Montessori teachers encouraged to apply. Before starting this position, you must be enrolled in Central Background Registry, and either have a current Food Handler’s Card, be current in Infant/Child First Aid/CPR (or be able to take it within 30 days), Other Office of Childcare required training within the first 30 days of hire. Covid vaccination and booster required.  

This position includes supporting the lead teacher in the classroom, working with many adults, cleaning, gardening, and assisting children with mealtimes, bathroom, and sleep.  This position requires an ability to be outside for up to two hours a day in any weather. A sense of humor is non-negotiable.

We encourage our staff to be open to changes within themselves, to learn daily and to be their authentic selves with the children. We view the role of teacher as a guide or collaborator with the children, the environment, and the other adults. We understand that learning happens all the time, and not just while the children are working with the Montessori materials. We view the role of all the adults in the environment as ‘teacher’. Portland Montessori Collaborative (pdxMC) is deeply committed to environmental sustainability; we integrate conservation into our curriculum and practice. Ours is an all day year round Montessori program.

Compensation: $16-18/hour + one time bonus after 90 days
Medical/Dental/PTO/Vacation after 30 days
