We are located in McMinnville, a thriving community in the heart of Oregon’s Willamette Valley wine region just 30 miles south of Portland.

Founded in 1983, our school serves children ages 3 through 12. We have two primary classrooms and an elementary classroom which began in 1997. Our mission is to cultivate curiosity, independence, social responsibility, and a lifelong love of learning.

Entry Requirements:

Experience working with young children
Meet all standards for lead teacher or step 8 in ORO
Enrolled in CBR and able to provide proof of current CPR, First Aid, Food Handler’s card
Experience working in a Montessori environment preferred, but not required
Ability to lift 50 pounds
Ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl throughout the day

Responsibilities:

*Develop and maintain a positive and supportive relationship with the Guide

*Support and participate in an agreed upon approach to guidance, consistent with Montessori philosophy and psychology for the primary age child.

*Classroom preparation, which includes general cleaning, inventory of supplies, helping to arrange the furniture and activities, making materials, etc.

*Assist the children in the development of independence. This may include supporting children in choosing purposeful activities; dispensing supplies; greeting late arrivals; helping a child with toileting; assisting children with their communication or helping them resolve conflicts; indicating where to wait for the guide when necessary; reporting any abnormal or unusual situations to the guide; helping a child who is injured to take care of herself.

*Develop and maintain a positive and supportive relationship with each child, while respecting and fostering her/his independence. Use positive language phrases and words with the children. Provide emotional support and understanding through active listening and feedback.

This position is Full time, hours are 9:30-5:30 and include running our aftercare program.
Pay is between $16-17 per hour and include a health stipend, 5 PTO days, and additional paid time off for holidays and breaks.

This position starts August 23rd, 2022.
