Chehalem Valley Montessori School (CVMS) - in the beautiful Northern Willamette Valley in Newberg, Oregon - is looking for a classroom assistant as we expand from 10 to 14 students in Fall 2023! We are a small in-home one room Montessori program for children ages 2.5-6. CVMS is licensed as a Certified Family Childcare Facility through the Oregon Early Learning Division, which means that staff have certain certificates and requirements needed on file before hire, as well as some shortly after hire. Montessori training is an asset, but we are open to training the right person for this position. Meredith, our founder & lead guide, believes that this position would be great for a new graduate from AMI or AMS training looking for early experience.

As a classroom assistant, you will work with Meredith, our founder and guide, to prepare and maintain an orderly, attractive, and joyful learning environment for our students. You will have opportunities to help observe student behavior and work choices; model grace & courtesy and peaceful social interaction; assist children in the development of their independence; support and contribute to a warm and calm learning atmosphere, and protect the lessons of our lead guide.  

Compensation & benefits based on relevant background and experience, starting at $17/hr. 

Hours: M-F 8am-3:30pm until June 2023; September 2023 onward, Tuesday-Friday 8am-3:30pm.

Required Before Hire:
•Age 18+
•Current enrollment in Criminal Background Registry (you have an “R number”)

Required Within 90 Days of Hire: 

(CVMS will guide you through these steps & provide some financial support for courses)
•Certificate from CVMS of staff orientation to school policies & procedures, and Oregon Certified Family Childcare policies & procedures
•Written permission from the school to “act as provider” in director’s absence
•Prevention is Better than Treatment Certificate
•First Aid & CPR Certification (infant, child, adult – must have in person component)
•RRCAN Certificate
•Food Handler’s Certificate
•Health & Safety Training through State of Oregon
•Safe Sleep Training Certificate
