Outstanding Dedication to Montessori Education in 2020-21 Award

For the last 28 years our organization has been giving awards to selected members of the community in two categories: Outstanding Dedication Award for inspiring advocacy on behalf of Montessori education, and the Susie Huston Award for excellence and inspiration in teaching.

Our Board of Directors felt that this year called for something different. That is why we created the Outstanding Dedication to Montessori Education Awards, designed to elevate and celebrate the work of Montessori educators who demonstrated excellence and inspiration in their teaching, and with their communities.

We are delighted to celebrate our four winners, as well as all of our nominees in this special edition of Forza Vitale!

About the Award

The Outstanding Dedication to Montessori Education in 2020-21 Award was given this year to three Montessori educators in the OMA community who exemplified excellence and inspiration in teaching. Nominations are now closed.

Current Montessori Guides in the Pacific Northwest are eligible for the Outstanding Dedication to Montessori Education in 2020-2021 Award. OMA membership is not a requirement.

OMA seeks to recognize nominees who are passionate about and exhibit a deep understanding of the Montessori method and education.  Additionally, nominees need to have applied this passion and mastery in an exceptional manner throughout the extraordinary challenges presented in 2020 and 2021. We seek to recognize the remarkable efforts teachers have made to continue to connect, inspire and guide their students during this time. These three teachers will have transformed their role within their school, during the pandemic. They will have either had experience with distance learning, limited in-person instruction or full time in-person instruction during the 2020-2021 school year. With the assistance of our community, we endeavor to recognize teachers from schools across Oregon and Southwest Washington. There are no requirements in terms of the number of years in the classroom or training affiliation.

OMA will award one teacher per level: Infant/Toddler Community, Children’s House/Primary, and Elementary/Adolescent.

The 2021 Nomination process was from March 29th to May 3rd and is now closed.
