About the Organization:

The Oregon Montessori Association (OMA) is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting and supporting Montessori education in the state of Oregon. Our mission is to foster collaboration, provide professional development opportunities, and advocate for the principles of Montessori education. OMA serves as a hub for Montessori educators, schools, and parents, working towards the common goal of creating high-quality Montessori learning environments.

 

Position Overview:

The Executive Director of the Oregon Montessori Association will play a pivotal role in advancing the organization's mission and ensuring the growth and sustainability of Montessori education in Oregon. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of Montessori principles, strong leadership skills, and a passion for promoting educational excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Leadership:

    • In collaboration with Board of Directors, develop and implement the strategic vision for OMA 

    • Provide leadership to the Board of Directors, staff, and volunteers, fostering a collaborative and positive organizational culture.

  • Advocacy and Outreach:

    • Advocate for Montessori education at the local, state, and national levels to raise awareness and support for Montessori principles and practices.

    • Build and maintain strong relationships with educators, schools, parents, policymakers, and other stakeholders.

  • Membership Engagement:

    • Cultivate and grow OMA's membership base by creating and implementing initiatives that add value to educators, schools, and parents involved in Montessori education.

    • Organize events, conferences, and workshops to facilitate networking and professional development opportunities in collaboration with the community and Board. 

  • Financial Management:

    • Develop and manage the organization's budget, ensuring financial sustainability and responsible stewardship of resources in collaboration with the Board of Directors.

    • Seek out and secure funding through grants, sponsorships, and partnerships to support OMA's initiatives.

  • Collaboration and Partnerships:

    • Collaborate with Montessori organizations, educational institutions, and community groups to strengthen the Montessori community in Oregon.

    • Establish and maintain partnerships that enhance OMA's impact and reach.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in education, nonprofit management, or a related field or related experience 

  • Experience with Montessori education with a strong understanding of Montessori principles and practices.

  • Proven leadership experience in a nonprofit or educational setting.

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and networking skills.

  • Willingness to develop and implement strategic plans in collaboration with Board of Directors

  • Financial management and record keeping in collaboration with Board of Directors 

  • Ability to work collaboratively and compassionately with diverse stakeholders.
